WHY SHOULD YOU DO YOGA ?

When you get out of bed and all your muscles are sore and tight. When you get up from sitting down from a long period of time and your legs are super tight. Have you bent down to pick up a cute little animal and through your back out ? I have and I thought there was no help. After years of putting my body through torture lifting heavy and making the mistake of not always using proper from when I was learning more about powerlifting and strongman workouts. Eventually it all caught up to me. I was going to a chiropractor and nothing ever got better. If anything I started to feel things getting worse.

I quickly started doing a lot of research. After hurting my sciatic nerve for the 3rd time not being able to get off my couch I started to look into yoga. I got on you tube and looked up a yoga video. I practiced the poses for days and my sciatic pains were gone in just under one week. I could wake up and not feel pain everywhere. Sit down without my sciatic nerve telling me its time to stretch. If you feel any lower back or shoulder pain I suggest doing yoga immediately.

HOW DO I START DOING YOGA?

With all the different types of yoga out there first you have to try many different methods to see what works for you. Power yoga is a favorite because its fast pace and keeps up the intensity. Yin and Yang yoga is long deep stretches. Yoga is like meditation for your body it is a natural healer. So to start doing yoga you necessarily don’t need a yoga mat. If you have access to you tube there are a ton of free videos by professionals who teach these yoga classes. Go to your local library there are books on how to do yoga. The best method is to go to an actual class with an instructor who can work with you one on one. Also it is a great way to meet others who will have the same passion as you do.

IS YOGA HARD?

ABSOLUTELY! There is no limit to becoming more flexible. When I started yoga I could not perform most the of the poses. As time went on I became more flexible. Still to this day I and certainly no master of yoga and far from it. It has helped me with many issues I have suffered and injuries I have battled. Everything takes time to ever get better at it. Yoga is not one of those things you can do once a month and expect good results. It requires a lot of persistence.

BOTTOM LINE

Athletes in all sports should focus on yoga as much as they focus on their goals as an athlete as we tear are bodies down over and over again we need to maintain what allows us to perform at an excellent rate. The great thing about yoga is it’s absolutely 100% free and you can do it anywhere. Of course with finding the experts to help guide you into doing the right poses. Never in a million years would I think something as simple as long stretches would fix so many things. It helps in many different aspects in your life. We all know at least one person who is always complaining about their back or legs or hips. Don’t be that person. Show everyone there is a way you can live without those agonising pains.
