Let’s face it the absolute best part of a diet. Is when you don’t have to diet. Most people thought the week crave and think about their cheat meal till the time actually comes. But when should you have a cheat meal ? When is the best time for a cheat meal ? How often should you have a cheat meal ? In this article I’m going to break down all the information on a glorious cheat meal and when you should cheat on your diet.
ENERGY IN ENERGY OUT
Food is energy. It helps us recover and perform at are best. With that in mind the best time to have a cheat meal is 24 hours prior to using your maximum energy. If you plan on hitting a new personal record on friday. Having your cheat meal on thursday is idealistic. That extra-large pizza and three cheese burgers you ate is a lot of calories. You burn more calories when you use more energy. You also recover faster when you consume the proper amount of calories for recovery. If you’re a power lifter or just want to improve your numbers. Higher carbohydrates meals prior to your big lift days will have a huge impact on your overall goal to success. This goes the same for any high intensity exercises. When you consume a cheat meal and have a rest day the next day the food goes no where rather than what little energy you do use.
CONSIDER YOUR GOALS
If your goal is to lift more. I recommend cheating one to two days a week. If your goal is to be very lean. Having a cheat meal every week may not have any benefits to you. Consumption of fatty high carbohydrates foods are not going to help your waist line. If you definitely plan on using a ton of energy the following day just increase your meal intake with a higher carb meal 24 hours prior. Hydration is a huge part as well. 2 days prior to your heavy day or 24 hours prior to cheat meal. Consume a lot of water. I recommend one to two gallons the day prior to your cheat meal and day of the cheat meal.
IT ISN’T ROCKET SCIENCE. IT’S A MY BODY SCIENCE. Listen to your body it will tell you when you need more food. Are you fatigued? Eat more! Are you not having that push in the gym ? Eat more! Have you Plato and can’t seem to lose any more weight ? Try eating a little bit more and apply it to use more energy. Most people who think there consuming enough food to replenish their body most of the time are not. Recovery and building muscle actually happens the moment you stop working out. Eating proper and all the right foods is obviously going to benefit you in the long-term. Having a donut here and a soda there is going to add up and is not always the best for recovery and building muscle. Choose your cheat meal and the time you consume it wisely.
